AQAF nursing home initiative earns additional funding

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded additional funding to AQAF for its Initiative to Reduce Avoidable Hospitalizations among Nursing Facility Residents.
The additional funds will enable AQAF to expand the scope of its activities, including providing professional development opportunities in association with the Alabama Nursing Home Association and the American Health Care Association, and more direct training for participating nursing home clinical and support staff.
CMS based its decision to award the funding to AQAF based on it meeting operational criteria, a composite quality score, and on AQAF having generated combined Medicare and Medicaid savings across all partnering nursing facilities.
AQAF is partnering with 23 nursing homes on the initiative in Alabama. AQAF is one of only two organizations working on the CMS-funded initiative to receive the additional funding.
