Welcome to AQAF

Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation (AQAF), located in Birmingham, Alabama is a nonprofit consulting firm that provides quality improvement assistance to the health care provider market through contract arrangements. AQAF’s primary services to partners and secondary customers are education, quality improvement training and technical assistance. This includes not only information about healthcare process improvement but also how to use data and how to implement quality improvement approaches. Recipients of these services include hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, physician offices, managed care organizations, etc.

AQAF is a non-profit community based organization that traces its history to 1972 when Alabama Medical Review, Inc. was founded under the sponsorship of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama to serve as the Professional Standards Review Organization (PSRO) for Alabama. We have provided quality improvement, utilization and quality review services for over 40 years and have successfully worked to improve health care quality in Alabama.

AQAF has performed work under the QIO contract for the state of Alabama in partnership with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), since 1982 and currently is a partner in atom Alliance performing work under CMS’s 11th SOW.
